Whitby Public Library Accessibility

The Whitby Public Library provides material in a variety of accessible formats.  We carry large printaudiobooks, e-audiobooks, e-books, and a selection of Braille picture books, and DVDs with described video and closed captioning.  Materials can also be borrowed from other libraries through interlibrary loan and through the Centre for Equitable Library Access.

DAISY readers and discs are available for borrowing and the Central Library has an accessible public computer station with ZoomText magnification and JAWS screen reader software and a magnifying aid designed for people with low vision, to enlarge newspapers, magazines, forms, etc.

Visiting Library Service

Visiting Library Service delivers library materials to Whitby residents who cannot use library facilities due to long term illness, disability or age. Library staff select materials based on your interests, and once every three weeks a volunteer will deliver these materials to your home. Please call the Adult Fiction Department at 905 668-6531, ext. 2010 or the Brooklin Branch at 905 655-3191 for more information or email askcaf@whitbylibrary.ca.
