Recommendation for Purchase

Do you want to borrow an item we don’t have in the collection? Let us know!
Staff will evaluate recommendations according to the Library’s Collection Development Policy.

Before submitting your purchase recommendation, please consider the following:

  • Check the library catalogue to see if we already own the item.
  • The library orders recent bestsellers/new releases prior to their publication date. We are unable to purchase items that do not have a confirmed release date.
  • We generally do not purchase non-fiction titles more than two years old or items considered too academic in nature. Consider requesting these items through our interlibrary loan service.
  • Due to a high volume of requests, we are unable to reply to each recommendation. For print material only: if your recommendation is purchased, we will place a hold on the item for you.

We welcome donations of self-published books by local authors. Please refer to the Durham Indie Collection submission form.

Tell us who you are, so we can contact you if needed
Please complete the following if you wish to have a hold placed on the item if it is purchased. Please note that we cannot place reserves on DVDs, music CDs or mass market paperbacks. For those items, please check the catalogue at a later date.
